Job Summary

The Store Helper is responsible for assisting in the receipt, storage, handling, issuance, and distribution of food, beverages, cleaning materials, consumables, and other supplies required for catering operations. The role supports the Storekeeper in maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring proper stock rotation, and keeping the warehouse and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with HSE and food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving and Inspection

• Assist in receiving food items, beverages, cleaning materials, PPE, and general supplies.
• Verify delivered items against Purchase Orders, Delivery Notes, and Goods Received Notes (GRNs).
• Inspect deliveries for quantity, quality, damage, and expiry dates.
• Report discrepancies, damaged goods, or shortages to the Storekeeper immediately.
• Assist in unloading and moving deliveries safely.

Storage and Inventory

• Store materials in designated locations according to company procedures.
• Arrange stock neatly and ensure easy identification and accessibility.
• Apply FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) principles for all applicable stock.
• Assist in monitoring minimum and maximum stock levels.
• Help conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inventory counts.
• Report slow-moving, damaged, or expired items to the Storekeeper.

Issuing Materials

• Prepare and issue materials against approved Material Requisition Forms (MRFs) or stock requests.
• Ensure only authorized personnel receive issued items.
• Assist in recording stock movements accurately.
• Support timely distribution of food items and supplies to kitchens and operational areas.

Housekeeping

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of dry stores, cold rooms, freezers, and storage areas.
• Keep aisles, exits, and storage racks free from obstructions.
• Dispose of damaged packaging and waste according to company procedures.
• Assist in pest prevention by maintaining proper housekeeping standards.

Equipment Handling

• Safely operate manual handling equipment such as pallet jacks and trolleys.
• Handle stock carefully to avoid damage or contamination.
• Report defective storage equipment or safety hazards immediately.

Documentation

• Assist with filing delivery notes, issue vouchers, stock records, and inventory documentation.
• Support inventory reconciliation and documentation accuracy.
• Maintain proper labelling and identification of all stored items.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Comply with all HSE policies, procedures, and site regulations.
• Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing duties.
• Follow safe lifting and manual handling techniques.
• Report hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately.
• Participate in mandatory HSE, food safety, and warehouse safety training.

Teamwork

• Work closely with Storekeepers, Procurement, Kitchen Staff, Logistics Personnel, and Supervisors.
• Assist during stock deliveries, audits, and emergency supply requirements.
• Support other warehouse and logistics activities as directed.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Storekeeper or Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of warehouse and storekeeping operations.
• Valid Food Handler Certificate is an advantage when handling food products.
• Basic computer knowledge is an advantage.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in warehouse, storekeeping, logistics, or catering stores.
• Must be able to Speak and Read English language

Physical Requirements

• Physically fit to perform manual handling tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 kg.
• Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work in dry stores, cold rooms, and freezer environments.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.

HSE & Compliance Requirements

• Comply with all site rules and company policies.
• Follow warehouse safety procedures and food safety standards.
• Maintain proper hygiene when handling food products.
• Wear prescribed PPE at all times.
• Participate in mandatory HSE, food safety, and site induction training.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Accurate receipt and issuance of materials.
• Compliance with FIFO/FEFO stock rotation procedures.
• Inventory accuracy and timely reporting of discrepancies.
• Cleanliness and organization of storage areas.
• Minimal stock damage, spoilage, or loss.
• Timely support to kitchen and operational requirements.
• Compliance with HSE, food safety, and warehouse procedures.
• Good attendance, punctuality, teamwork, and professional conduct.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in warehouses, dry stores, cold rooms, freezers, and loading/unloading areas within the site.
• Regular manual handling of food products, consumables, cleaning materials, and equipment.
• Exposure to varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer environments.
• Shift work may be required based on operational and delivery schedules.
• Strict compliance with HSE, security, food safety, and environmental standards is mandatory.
