Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Welder Fabricator to join our marine maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabrication, welding, repair, and maintenance of marine vessels, steel structures, piping systems, and related equipment. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in demanding marine and shipyard environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding and fabrication works on marine vessels, barges, pontoons, platforms, and steel structures.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication sketches, and welding procedures.
- Carry out cutting, grinding, fitting, and assembly of metal components.
- Repair damaged metal structures and equipment onboard vessels and in workshops.
- Execute MIG, TIG, Arc, and gas welding as required.
- Fabricate handrails, brackets, supports, piping, and structural components.
- Ensure all welding works comply with marine safety and quality standards.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure structural integrity and workmanship quality.
- Operate welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, and fabrication tools safely.
- Work closely with maintenance supervisors, engineers, and vessel crews.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times.
- Follow company HSE policies and marine industry safety regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Welder Fabricator, preferably in marine, shipyard, offshore, or heavy industrial environments.
- Knowledge of marine steel fabrication and repair works.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Experience in MIG, TIG, SMAW/Arc welding processes.
- Familiarity with marine maintenance procedures and onboard repair activities.
- Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces and outdoor conditions.
- Good understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Relevant welding certifications are an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical diploma or vocational certification in Welding/Fabrication.
- Experience working on vessels, ship repair, offshore platforms, or marine equipment.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
