The Warehouse Assistant (Picker and Packer) is responsible for efficiently and accurately picking, packing, and preparing orders for shipment in a fast-paced warehouse environment. The individual will also be involved in inventory management, stock organization, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Order Picking:
Accurately pick items from warehouse shelves based on order specifications.
Verify picked items against order forms to ensure correctness.
Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) to move items when needed.
Packing:
Safely and securely pack products to prevent damage during shipment.
Label and prepare packages for shipment, including addressing and marking them with the correct shipping details.
Ensure that the right packaging materials are used for different types of products.
Inventory Control:
Help maintain and update stock records by scanning and labeling products.
Assist in conducting regular stock checks to ensure accuracy.
Report any discrepancies in inventory levels to the supervisor.
Safety and Cleanliness:
Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Keep the warehouse clean and organized by ensuring shelves and workspaces are tidy.
Adhere to all safety regulations while using equipment and handling goods.
Shipping and Receiving:
Assist in receiving and unloading incoming shipments.
Verify and check incoming shipments against purchase orders and invoices.
Organize and store received stock in the appropriate locations.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other warehouse staff to meet daily picking and packing targets.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Experience: Prior warehouse or logistics experience is a plus.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or barcode scanners (a plus).
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to [insert weight]) and stand for long periods.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry boxes, stand, bend, and move for long periods.
