Key Responsibilities
- Inspect seats, interior trim, and upholstery to determine repair or replacement requirements.
- Remove damaged upholstery, padding, and interior trim components.
- Measure, cut, sew, and install fabric, leather, vinyl, foam, and other upholstery materials.
- Repair or replace seat covers, headliners, carpets, door panels, armrests, and interior trim.
- Fabricate and install custom upholstery according to customer or company specifications.
- Operate sewing machines, cutting tools, staplers, and other upholstery equipment.
- Repair seat frames, springs, padding, and support structures as required.
- Match colors, textures, and materials to maintain appearance and quality.
- Ensure completed work meets quality standards and customer expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and completed work.
- Keep the workshop, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Vocational training or certification in Upholstery, Furniture Making, Automotive Trim, or a related trade is an advantage.
- Previous experience in automotive, furniture, marine, or commercial upholstery is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of upholstery materials, fabrics, leather, vinyl, foam, and adhesives.
- Proficiency in measuring, cutting, sewing, and fitting upholstery materials.
- Ability to operate industrial sewing machines and upholstery tools safely.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and design specifications.
- Good craftsmanship, attention to detail, and precision.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality standards.
