Company Introduction:

We are a leading EPC contracting company in Saudi Arabia, specializing in delivering large-scale projects across high-voltage substations, overhead transmission lines (OHTL), power plants, water treatment, and industrial infrastructure. As part of our commitment to innovation and seamless system integration, we are seeking a skilled Telecom Engineer to support the design, installation, and commissioning of telecommunication systems in our energy and infrastructure projects.

Position Overview:

The Telecom Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, testing, and commissioning of telecommunication systems, including fiber optic networks, SCADA communication, microwave links, CCTV, access control, and teleprotection systems, particularly within substation and OHTL projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telecom engineering and utility infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Telecom System Design & Integration:

Develop and review telecom system designs, including fiber optic cabling, SDH/PDH systems, IP/MPLS, PABX, RTUs, and SCADA interfaces.

Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, schematic diagrams, and routing layouts.

Ensure designs meet SEC, IEC, IEEE, and project-specific standards.

Installation & Commissioning:

Supervise installation of fiber optic cables, ODFs, telecom cabinets, antennas, and associated equipment.

Perform testing, splicing, and termination of fiber cables.

Commission telecom systems and ensure full integration with substation control systems and grid communication networks.

Vendor Coordination & Material Approvals:

Review and evaluate vendor submittals, datasheets, and drawings for telecom materials and systems.

Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery, inspection, and installation support.

Ensure compliance with project requirements and interface with other engineering disciplines.

Documentation & Quality Assurance:

Prepare and maintain test plans, FAT/SAT procedures, and commissioning reports.

Ensure all telecom works follow QA/QC protocols and safety standards.

Maintain proper documentation for as-built drawings, system configurations, and user manuals.

Coordination with Stakeholders:

Collaborate with electrical, SCADA, protection, and IT teams to ensure successful system integration.

Support the client, consultant, and third-party inspections during project execution.

Assist in resolving technical issues related to telecommunication connectivity and functionality.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics & Communication.

Experience:

Minimum 5+ years of experience in telecom systems for utility or EPC projects, particularly in HV/EHV substations or OHTL.

Experience with SEC or National Grid projects is highly preferred.

Key Skills:

Proficient in fiber optic network design, SDH/PDH, IP networking, SCADA, and teleprotection systems.

Knowledge of IEC 61850, ITU-T standards, and utility telecom protocols.

Hands-on experience with OTDR, splicing tools, network testers, and telecom commissioning.

Excellent coordination, reporting, and documentation skills.

Preferred Certifications:

SEC approval, CCNA, FOA (Fiber Optic Association), or relevant telecom certifications are a plus.
