Job Description – Store Manager

Reports To: General Manager / Operations Manager
Position Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store, ensuring efficient inventory management, excellent customer service, achievement of sales targets, and compliance with company policies and procedures. The role includes supervising store staff, maintaining stock accuracy, ensuring proper merchandising, and maximizing profitability while delivering a safe and organized working environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesStore Operations
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the store to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
- Open and close the store according to company procedures.
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, and professionally presented at all times.
- Monitor daily store activities and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and security procedures.
Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Coordinate receiving, checking, and storage of incoming goods.
- Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts, and annual inventory audits.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Minimize stock losses, damages, and shrinkage.
Sales & Customer Service
- Achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
- Ensure customers receive professional, friendly, and efficient service.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and product returns professionally.
- Promote new products and sales campaigns to maximize revenue.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and implement improvements where necessary.
Staff Management
- Supervise, motivate, and lead the store team.
- Prepare staff schedules and ensure adequate manpower coverage.
- Conduct staff training on products, customer service, and company procedures.
- Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, and performance.
- Evaluate staff performance and recommend disciplinary actions or rewards when necessary.
Merchandising
- Ensure products are displayed according to company standards.
- Maintain attractive product presentation and pricing accuracy.
- Monitor product expiration dates (where applicable).
- Coordinate promotional displays and seasonal merchandising.
Financial Responsibilities
- Monitor daily sales reports and cash reconciliation.
- Ensure proper handling of cash, card transactions, and deposits.
- Control store expenses and operate within the approved budget.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
Health, Safety & Security
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
- Maintain proper storage conditions for all products.
- Report maintenance and safety concerns immediately.
- Prevent theft, fraud, and unauthorized activities within the store.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in retail, wholesale, or general trading operations.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience in inventory management and retail operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience using POS systems and inventory management software is an advantage.

Working Conditions
- Full-time position with flexible working hours, including weekends and public holidays as required.
- May require lifting and moving merchandise.
- Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift.
