The Service Advisor is responsible for greeting customers, diagnosing their vehicle or service needs, explaining required repairs or services, and providing accurate estimates. They will also manage customer expectations, track service progress, and ensure that all jobs are completed on time, efficiently, and within budget. Service Advisors work closely with both customers and technicians to ensure smooth operations and high customer satisfaction.
#### Key Responsibilities:
– *Customer Interaction*: Greet customers as they arrive and listen carefully to their service needs. Maintain a positive, professional relationship with customers to encourage repeat business.
– *Service Recommendations*: Provide accurate advice and information regarding vehicle maintenance and repair services based on customer descriptions or technician assessments.
– *Estimates & Pricing*: Prepare and explain cost estimates for recommended services or repairs and ensure customers are informed of any changes.
– *Work Orders & Documentation*: Create and maintain accurate service orders, including customer details, vehicle information, and a list of requested services or repairs.
– *Liaison between Customers and Technicians*: Communicate with technicians to clarify repair needs, relay customer requests, and ensure accurate completion of services.
– *Follow-ups*: Stay in contact with customers during service completion, providing updates on progress or issues that arise. Ensure customer satisfaction and address concerns in a timely manner.
– *Scheduling*: Schedule service appointments and manage the shop’s workflow to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
– *Sales of Additional Services*: Recommend additional services or products to customers based on vehicle history or manufacturer guidelines (e.g., tire rotations, fluid changes).
– *Customer Education*: Educate customers about vehicle care, the importance of regular maintenance, and how to properly maintain their vehicle.
– *Warranty & Insurance Handling*: Assist customers with warranty claims, insurance claims, and other paperwork related to vehicle repairs.
– *Payment Processing*: Handle customer billing, process payments, and offer financing options when necessary.
– *Customer Feedback*: Gather customer feedback and make suggestions to improve customer experience and service quality.
#### Qualifications:
– *Experience*: Previous experience in an automotive service or customer service role is preferred.
– *Communication Skills*: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers and technicians.
– *Problem-Solving*: Ability to assess customer needs and address concerns while balancing customer satisfaction and service efficiency.
– *Organizational Skills*: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
– *Technical Knowledge*: Basic understanding of vehicle systems, repairs, and services.
– *Customer Service*: Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
– *Computer Skills*: Proficient in using dealership or service center management software and office programs like Microsoft Office.

### Preferred Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent (Associates or Bachelor’s degree a plus).
– Certification in automotive service or customer service is a plus.
– Previous experience working as a Service Advisor or in an automotive service department.
