Key responsibilities

  • Site commissioning planning: develop site‑specific commissioning plans, schedules, checklists, and pre‑commissioning activities; define scope, resource needs, and acceptance criteria.
  • Pre‑commissioning: supervise inspection, cleaning, hydrostatic/pressure testing, flushing, purge operations, loop checks, and pre‑functional verifications.
  • Functional & integrated testing: perform and witness functional, integrated, and performance tests for MEP, power distribution, HVAC, fire protection, PLC/DCS/SCADA, and other discipline systems.
  • Start‑up & troubleshooting: lead equipment start‑up, execute system bring‑up sequences, diagnose faults, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Controls & instrumentation: validate I/O wiring, calibrate instruments, verify control logic and HMI displays, and support PLC/DCS testing and tuning.
  • Safety & site compliance: enforce site safety procedures, conduct risk assessments/JSA, ensure permit‑to‑work compliance, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Documentation & handover: produce and maintain commissioning records, test reports, punch‑lists, FAT/SAT documentation, as‑built markups, and O&M handover packages.
  • Coordination & communication: coordinate daily with construction, vendors, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives to sequence activities and resolve interfaces.
  • QA/QC and acceptance testing: implement quality checks, witness vendor tests, verify installation to specifications, and support client acceptance tests.
  • Spare parts & logistics: identify critical spares, manage on‑site tool and equipment needs, and monitor material availability affecting commissioning.
  • Training & operator support: deliver operator/maintenance training, prepare SOPs, and support early operations during initial run periods.
  • Reporting & escalation: report progress, issues, and risks to Commissioning Manager/Project Manager and escalate critical technical or schedule impediments.
  • Continuous improvement: capture lessons learned, refine site procedures, and contribute to commissioning checklists and workflows.

Required qualifications

  • Experience: 3–8+ years in commissioning, start‑up, or field engineering on construction projects (industrial, power, data center, buildings, oil & gas, or infrastructure).
  • Technical skills: hands‑on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, control, and instrumentation systems; experience with loop checks, calibration, PLC/DCS testing, and functional testing.
  • Tools & documentation: ability to read P&IDs, single‑line diagrams, GA drawings, and follow engineering specifications; proficiency with commissioning/test instruments (multimeter, calibrator, pressure gauges).
  • Soft skills: strong problem‑solving, on‑site coordination, clear communication, and report writing.
  • Education/certifications: bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) or equivalent experience; commissioning or safety certifications (CxP, ISA, NEBOSH) are a plus.
  • Mobility: willingness to work on site, including extended deployments and possible travel to remote locations.

Desired attributes

  • Hands‑on, methodical, and safety‑minded.
