Job Summary:
Senior Engineer reporting to Engineering Group Supervisor has design and detail engineering experience in Aluminum Smelter projects. The candidate will be responsible for leading engineering activities in mechanical discipline on a project, or designated portions of a project, for a global business unit. Plans and perform engineering assignments on the project.
This position is for a Senior Engineers-Aluminium Smelter having experience in detail engineering of large modern smelters with technological experience in Reduction Plant, Carbon Plant, Cast House, Port and Smelter Infrastructure for aluminium smelter projects. The candidate shall lead a team of engineers and designers and is responsible for providing technical support to the Project Engineering Manager/Project Engineer. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. Candidate should have detail design experience with exposure for plant construction, start-up and operations.
Major Responsibilities:
• Plans, develop, coordinates and reviews engineering work within a discipline on projects of medium size and complexity or assignments in support of a global business unit.
• Coordinates and monitors day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, designers and drafters.
• Executes process deliverables according to a set engineering design criterion utilizing approved engineering departmental procedures (EDP), codes and standards.
• Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to Project Manager/Project Engineer in consultation with specialists.
• Reviews and approves key engineering drawings, calculations, bid summaries and field change notices.
• Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates.
• Conduct performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and hold career development discussions.
• Coordinates assigned engineering work to other project groups.
• Develop / assist in documentation for progress reporting, tracking mechanism for team deliverables.
• Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work.
• Implement / Capture Lesson Learnt. Active pursuit of Value Engineering, design and cost optimization program.
• Ensures that direct reports receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
• Interaction with Global office / Home office (abroad), execute work on workshare mode.
