Position Overview
As a Senior Accountant in our trading firm, you won’t just be crunching numbers—you will be managing the financial heartbeat of our trading operations. You will oversee inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS), multi-currency transactions, and trade financing. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-velocity environment and possesses a deep understanding of standard accounting principles applied specifically to trading and inventory environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Trade & Inventory Accounting: Oversee inventory tracking, valuation and reconciliation across multiple warehouses or transits.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with [IFRS / US GAAP].
- L/C & Trade Finance Management: Handle Letters of Credit (L/Cs), bank guarantees, and trade financing documentation.
- Cost Analysis: Monitor and analyze landed costs (freight, customs, duties, insurance) to ensure accurate margin analysis per trade/deal.
- Taxation & Compliance: Manage tax filings, VAT/GST returns, and ensure compliance with local and international trade regulations.
- Treasury & Cash Flow: Monitor multi-currency cash flows, manage foreign exchange (FX) exposure, and handle bank reconciliations.
- Audit & Internal Controls: Lead the year-end audit process and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certification: CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years specifically within a trading, import/export, or wholesale distribution firm.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, financial modeling).
- Hands-on experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) and specialized inventory modules.
