Credentials / Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field; must hold a valid nursing license from the Ministry of Health in Kuwait.
- Experience: At least two years of experience in pediatric or school nursing, preferably within Kuwait, with first aid and CPR certification.
- Skills: Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in emergencies. Proficiency in both English and Arabic is preferred. Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively with students, staff, and parents. Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
General Responsibilities
The School Nurse at One International School is responsible for promoting and ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all students, faculty, and staff. The School Nurse is expected to embody and promote the school’s core values of Education Excellence, Entrepreneurship, Holistic Wellness, and Culture & Global Insight, while adhering to the healthcare standards and regulations of Kuwait.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Health and Wellness Care:
- Provide direct care to students and staff, including first aid, illness assessment, and chronic condition management, in accordance with Kuwaiti health regulations.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring compliance with Kuwait’s Ministry of Health guidelines.
- Monitor and manage the health records of students and staff, ensuring compliance with health regulations and school policies.
- Conduct routine health screenings and assessments, such as vision, hearing, and immunization checks, as required by Kuwaiti law.
- Promote holistic wellness by organizing and conducting health education programs tailored to the needs of the school community in Kuwait.
2. Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, providing first aid and coordinating with emergency medical services as needed, following local emergency protocols.
- Develop, implement, and monitor emergency care plans for students with specific health needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for health-related emergencies during school hours.
- Health Education and Counseling:
- Provide health counseling to students, staff, and parents, offering guidance on physical and mental well-being, with cultural sensitivity to the Kuwaiti context.
- Collaborate with the school’s educators to integrate health and wellness into the curriculum, aligning with both international best practices and Kuwaiti cultural norms.
- Organize wellness workshops and health awareness campaigns for the school community, promoting a culture of holistic wellness within the Kuwaiti setting.
- Infection Control and Prevention:
- Implement and oversee infection control policies, ensuring a safe and healthy school environment, in line with Ministry of Health directives.
- Monitor and manage outbreaks of contagious illnesses, providing guidance on prevention and control measures according to local public health guidelines.
- Educate the school community on hygiene practices and disease prevention strategies, emphasizing practices recommended by the Ministry of Health in Kuwait.
- Administrative and Operational Support:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for all students and staff, ensuring compliance with Kuwaiti regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Kuwait’s Ministry of Health regulations concerning student health and safety.
- Coordinate with local health authorities and healthcare providers to support the health needs of the school community.
- Assist in the development and revision of health-related policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with Kuwaiti healthcare standards.
- Training and Reporting:
- Actively participate in professional development and training sessions relevant to school health services, with a focus on local healthcare practices.
- Prepare and submit reports on health services, incidents, and trends as required by the Operations Supervisor and the Ministry of Health.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure that all health-related information is handled with the utmost discretion, in compliance with Kuwaiti privacy laws
