Retail Sales Director – Mobile & Accessories | Kiosk Cluster

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, commercially driven, and results-oriented Retail Sales Director – Mobile & Accessories to lead the growth and performance of our Kiosk Retail Cluster across the assigned market.

The role will have end-to-end responsibility for the sales, profitability, operational performance, inventory productivity, customer experience, and people development of the kiosk network. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of high-volume, small-format retail and the ability to translate commercial strategy into consistent execution at store level.

As the leader of a fast-paced kiosk business, you will be responsible for maximizing footfall conversion, average transaction value, units per transaction, gross margin, and sales productivity, while maintaining strong operational controls and an engaging customer experience.

You will also play a key role in network expansion, identifying new locations and business opportunities, negotiating with key stakeholders, and building a scalable operating model for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth

Develop and execute the overall sales and commercial strategy for the Mobile & Accessories kiosk network.

Own cluster-level revenue, gross margin, EBITDA/profitability, and sales productivity targets.

Establish annual, quarterly, and monthly sales plans, translating business objectives into clear targets for each kiosk and team.

Drive continuous improvement in key retail KPIs, including:

Sales per kiosk / sales per square foot

Conversion rate

Average Transaction Value (ATV)

Units per Transaction (UPT)

Gross margin

Attachment and cross-sell rates

Inventory turnover

Identify opportunities to increase revenue through upselling, cross-selling, bundles, promotions, and product mix optimization.

Monitor market trends, competitor activity, pricing, consumer behavior, and emerging mobile accessory categories to maintain a competitive product proposition.

2. Kiosk Network Expansion & Business Development

Identify and evaluate high-potential locations, including shopping malls, hypermarkets, transit hubs, high-footfall retail destinations, and other strategic venues.

Develop business cases for new kiosk locations, including sales forecasts, investment requirements, operating costs, payback, and profitability expectations.

Lead the commercial and operational rollout of new kiosks, ensuring timely opening and readiness.

Develop a scalable kiosk operating model that supports rapid expansion while maintaining consistent customer and brand standards.

Evaluate the performance of existing locations and recommend relocation, resizing, refurbishment, consolidation, or closure where appropriate.

3. Operational Excellence

Establish and continuously improve standardized SOPs and operating standards across the kiosk network.

Ensure strict compliance with procedures covering:

Opening and closing

Cash management and reconciliation

Inventory receiving and transfers

Stock counts and inventory audits

Loss prevention and shrinkage control

Discount and promotional controls

Health, safety, and mall compliance

Ensure all kiosks consistently meet required standards for customer service, appearance, availability, and operational discipline.

Use sales and operational data to identify performance gaps and implement corrective action plans.

4. Merchandising & Customer Experience

Develop and maintain a compelling visual merchandising strategy specifically designed for small-footprint, high-traffic kiosk environments.

Optimize product placement, price communication, promotional displays, and product adjacencies to maximize conversion and basket size.

Ensure the right balance between fast-moving mobile accessories, premium products, impulse purchases, and emerging categories.

Partner with marketing and brand teams to execute seasonal campaigns, product launches, promotions, and in-store activations.

Maintain a consistently high standard of customer engagement and service across all locations.

5. Inventory & Product Management

Partner closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, and Merchandising teams to maintain optimum inventory availability.

Ensure strong availability of high-demand and fast-moving products while controlling excess and obsolete inventory.

Establish appropriate stock cover, replenishment, assortment, and allocation strategies by kiosk.

Monitor inventory ageing, sell-through, stock variance, shrinkage, and inventory turnover.

Develop action plans to accelerate the sale of slow-moving and ageing inventory without unnecessarily eroding margins.

6. Leadership & Talent Development

Lead and develop Area Sales Managers, Kiosk Supervisors, and frontline Sales Associates across the network.

Build a high-performance, customer-focused sales culture based on accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Establish clear individual and team KPIs and ensure consistent performance management.

Develop structured training programs covering:

Product knowledge

Consultative selling

Cross-selling and upselling

Objection handling

Closing techniques

Customer experience

Product demonstrations

Implement effective incentive and recognition programs to drive performance, engagement, and retention.

Identify and develop high-potential employees to build a strong internal leadership pipeline.

7. P&L & Financial Management

Own the financial performance of the kiosk cluster, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and profitability.

Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and business plans.

Analyze kiosk-level profitability and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and returns.

Monitor labor productivity, rental costs, promotional spending, inventory costs, and other key operating expenses.

Ensure commercial decisions are supported by robust financial analysis and clear return-on-investment expectations.

8. Landlord, Mall & Strategic Partner Management

Act as the senior commercial contact for mall management, landlords, property operators, and strategic retail partners.

Manage relationships relating to kiosk placement, trading hours, lease compliance, operational requirements, visibility, and commercial performance.

Identify opportunities to improve kiosk locations, negotiate better commercial terms, and secure strategic placements.

Work closely with mobile brands, accessory manufacturers, distributors, and other partners to secure:

Promotional support

Co-marketing investment

Product launches

Exclusive offers

Commercial incentives

Training and merchandising support

9. Reporting, Analytics & Governance

Establish a robust performance reporting framework covering daily, weekly, and monthly commercial and operational KPIs.

Provide regular performance updates and strategic recommendations to the CEO and senior management.

Use data and analytics to identify trends, underperforming locations, sales opportunities, and operational risks.

Drive a culture of fact-based decision-making and performance accountability across the organization.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

8+ years of progressive retail sales experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior regional, multi-site, or director-level leadership role.

Proven experience managing a multi-location retail network, preferably kiosks, pop-ups, stores, or other small-format/high-footfall retail environments.

Strong industry experience in mobile phones, consumer electronics, telecom, mobile accessories, or related retail categories.

Demonstrated track record of delivering revenue growth, margin improvement, and profitable retail expansion.

Strong understanding of retail KPIs, including conversion, ATV, UPT, sales per square foot, gross margin, sell-through, stock turnover, and labor productivity.

Proven experience with P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Strong commercial and negotiation skills with experience managing landlords, mall operators, vendors, distributors, and brand partners.

Demonstrated ability to recruit, lead, coach, and develop large frontline sales teams.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or relevant professional qualification is an advantage
