Job Purpose
To manage project costs, contracts, procurement support, variations, claims, and commercial reporting to ensure the financial success and contractual compliance of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities1. Cost Estimation and Cost Control
- Prepare project cost estimates and cost plans.
- Monitor project cost performance and identify deviations.
- Prepare cost analysis reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Support project budget preparation and cost control activities.
- Assist in forecasting project costs and financial performance.
2. Procurement and Subcontract Commercial Support
- Support procurement and subcontracting activities from a commercial perspective.
- Review supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Conduct price comparisons and commercial evaluations.
- Prepare subcontract agreements and participate in commercial negotiations.
- Ensure procurement activities align with project budgets and contractual requirements.
3. Contract Administration
- Review project contract terms and identify contractual risks.
- Maintain contract registers and key contractual records.
- Monitor contractual obligations and compliance requirements.
- Provide support and clarification regarding contract provisions.
- Assist in managing correspondence related to contractual matters.
4. Variation and Claims Management
- Prepare and maintain variation order registers.
- Support the preparation and submission of variation and claim documents.
- Coordinate with engineering and project teams to obtain supporting documentation.
- Track approval status and payment recovery for variations and claims.
- Assist in evaluating entitlement and contractual impacts of project changes.
5. Payment and Commercial Reporting
- Prepare interim payment applications and commercial reports.
- Verify work progress and quantities for payment purposes.
- Monitor project cash flow and payment status.
- Prepare weekly and monthly commercial reports.
- Assist management in tracking project financial performance.
6. Project Commercial Coordination
- Coordinate commercial matters with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Provide commercial support to project teams.
- Identify potential commercial risks and opportunities.
- Participate in project meetings related to commercial and contractual matters.
- Support dispute avoidance and resolution activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications related to contracts or quantity surveying are an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Contract Administration within the construction industry.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management.
- Proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control.
- Good understanding of FIDIC and other standard forms of contracts.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and reporting abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.

- Accuracy of cost estimates and forecasts.
- Timely submission of payment applications and commercial reports.
- Effective management of variations and claims.
