About the Role
Jazan Integrated Gasification & Power Company (JIGPC) is seeking a highly skilled Protection Engineer to join our Maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, compliance, testing, maintenance, and optimization of electrical protection systems supporting a large-scale industrial and power generation facility.
This role requires hands-on expertise in protective relays, fault analysis, relay testing, switchgear protection, and power system troubleshooting within power generation, utilities, oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of electrical protection systems.
- Test, calibrate, configure, and troubleshoot protective relays and associated equipment.
- Conduct fault investigations, root cause analysis, and system performance evaluations.
- Maintain and optimize protection schemes for transmission, distribution, and generation systems.
- Support maintenance shutdowns, turnarounds, and plant upgrades.
- Analyze protection events and disturbance records to improve system reliability.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, safety requirements, and industry regulations.
- Provide technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams.
- Prepare maintenance reports, test records, and technical documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to electrical protection systems.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience
- 10 years of experience in Electrical Protection Engineering.
- Experience within Power Generation, Utilities, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, or Heavy Industrial facilities.
- Hands-on experience with protection relays, relay testing, fault analysis, and electrical troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Power Systems Engineering.
- Certification in Protective Relaying (SEL, GE, Siemens, Beckwith, or equivalent).
- NFPA 70E or other Electrical Safety Certification.
- Experience with SAP PM or other CMMS systems.
