The Project QA/QC Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing the project’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems to ensure that all construction activities, materials, and deliverables comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes and standards, contractual requirements, and company quality procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the project QA/QC team and oversee all quality activities throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP) in accordance with project and contractual requirements.
- Ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and applicable standards.
- Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, checklists, and quality procedures.
- Monitor and inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with approved requirements.
- Coordinate with the client, consultant, subcontractors, and project team on all QA/QC matters.
- Ensure all required inspections and tests are conducted and properly documented.
- Manage and monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Review and follow up on technical and quality-related submittals, material approvals, and inspection requests.
- Conduct regular quality audits and inspections of construction activities and subcontractor performance.
- Ensure proper implementation of quality control procedures by subcontractors and suppliers.
- Monitor the quality of incoming materials and ensure compliance with approved material specifications.
- Maintain and review quality records, inspection reports, test results, and project quality documentation.
- Identify potential quality risks and implement appropriate preventive measures.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates on quality performance and outstanding issues.
- Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to resolve quality and technical issues.
- Ensure the timely closure of NCRs, observations, punch lists, and other quality-related actions.
- Support internal, client, consultant, and third-party quality audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable ISO 9001 requirements and project-specific quality standards.
- Prepare and submit periodic QA/QC reports and quality performance indicators to project management.
- Lead the preparation of project handover and final quality documentation.
- Promote a strong quality culture across the project and ensure continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Relevant professional QA/QC certifications are preferred.
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor certification is preferred.
- Additional certifications such as PMP, CQI/IRCA, ASQ, or equivalent would be an advantage.
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in QA/QC within the construction industry.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a QA/QC Manager or similar senior management position.
- Strong experience in large-scale construction, EPC, industrial, infrastructure, or building projects.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary QA/QC teams.
- Experience working with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and third-party inspection agencies.
- Strong knowledge of construction quality standards, inspection procedures, ITPs, NCR management, and project quality documentation.
- Experience in Saudi Arabia/GCC projects is highly preferred.
