Job Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities to ensure efficient, high-quality output in line with safety, hygiene, and industry standards. In the context of the dates industry, this includes managing the processing, packaging, and handling of date products. The role requires hands-on supervision of the production floor, team coordination, adherence to food safety protocols, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day production operations, including sorting, cleaning, processing, packaging, and labeling of dates and date-derived products.
Ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are met consistently.
Coordinate with quality control, maintenance, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth workflow.
Monitor labor performance, provide training, and motivate production staff to achieve efficiency.
Implement and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and other food safety standards.
Maintain production records, including batch logs, yield reports, downtime, and incidents.
Assist in optimizing equipment usage and minimizing waste during production.
Support continuous improvement activities and participate in root cause analysis for production issues.
Ensure that equipment and facilities are cleaned, maintained, and compliant with hygiene standards.
Report to management on production metrics, challenges, and suggestions for improvement.
Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing, preferably within the dates industry or similar.
Strong understanding of food safety systems, including HACCP, ISO 22000, or BRC.
Hands-on experience with processing and packaging lines.
Ability to lead and motivate production teams.
Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to operational issues.
Familiarity with ERP systems and basic reporting tools.
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience in handling dates or dried fruit production.
Knowledge of local and international food safety regulations.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
