We are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to join our construction contracting team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading project planning and scheduling activities, monitoring project progress, identifying delays and risks, and ensuring projects are delivered in line with approved schedules and contractual requirements.
The ideal candidate must have strong experience within the construction contracting industry and a proven track record of working specifically as a Planning Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain detailed project baseline schedules in line with project requirements and contractual milestones.
- Lead the planning and scheduling function across construction projects.
- Monitor actual progress against approved project schedules and identify delays, slippages, and potential risks.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and schedule updates for management.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineering, Procurement, QS, and other project teams to ensure timely project execution.
- Analyze project performance and recommend corrective and recovery actions where required.
- Prepare and monitor project recovery programs and mitigation plans for delayed activities.
- Review contractor/subcontractor schedules and ensure alignment with the overall project program.
- Conduct critical path analysis and assess the impact of changes and delays on project completion dates.
- Prepare progress measurement systems and ensure accurate reporting of project performance.
- Support preparation of extension of time (EOT) claims and delay analysis when required.
- Ensure project schedules are regularly updated based on site progress and approved changes.
- Participate in progress meetings and provide clear planning and schedule-related updates to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with company planning procedures, project requirements, and contractual obligations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience specifically in the position of Planning Manager.
- Strong overall experience in the construction contracting industry.
- UAE construction experience is highly preferred.
- Candidates must be currently based in UAE.
- Strong knowledge of construction project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and delay analysis.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel and project reporting tools.
- Experience in preparing baseline programs, recovery schedules, look-ahead programs, and progress reports.
- Good understanding of construction methodologies, project controls, and contractual milestones.
- Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Planning Manager with strong main contractor/contracting company experience, capable of independently managing planning activities for complex construction projects and providing accurate project performance information to senior management.
Only candidates with relevant construction contracting experience and a minimum of 3 years’ experience specifically as a Planning Manager will be considered.
