Position Overview
The Petroleum Reservoir Engineer will be responsible for evaluating reservoir performance, developing reservoir management strategies, and maximizing oil and gas recovery through advanced engineering analysis and simulation techniques. The successful candidate will work closely with geologists, drilling engineers, production engineers, and field operations teams to support efficient and profitable reservoir development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct reservoir engineering studies to assess reservoir characteristics, reserves, and production performance.
- Develop and maintain reservoir simulation models to forecast production and optimize recovery strategies.
- Analyze geological, petrophysical, and production data to support reservoir management decisions.
- Estimate hydrocarbon reserves and prepare reserve evaluation reports.
- Monitor reservoir performance and recommend corrective actions to enhance recovery efficiency.
- Design and evaluate field development plans, infill drilling opportunities, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support drilling, completion, and production operations.
- Perform pressure transient analysis, material balance calculations, and decline curve analysis.
- Identify production optimization opportunities and recommend operational improvements.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and engineering documentation for management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support asset development planning and long-term reservoir management initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in reservoir engineering within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of reservoir simulation, reservoir characterization, and production forecasting.
- Experience with reservoir engineering software such as Petrel, Eclipse, CMG, MBAL, Prosper, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of reservoir surveillance, reserves estimation, and field development planning.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and technical reporting abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and complex operational environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with unconventional reservoirs, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), or integrated asset management.
- Professional engineering certification or membership in a recognized engineering association.
- Knowledge of Saudi Arabia’s oil and gas operating environment.
- Experience managing reservoir studies for large-scale upstream projects.
