Senior Investment Associate – Dubai -DIFC
Leading family office with extensive operations in Dubai and Riyadh.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Investment Associate for the Dubai, DIFC office.
The role:
Identify, evaluate, recommend and monitor Real Asset managers, funds and co-investments in accordance with the approved Real Assets structure policy with minimal input from Senior/ Portfolio Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze funds’ Private Placement Memorandums and other documents and carry out hands-on, in-depth qualitative & quantitative evaluation from due diligence towards the preparation of the investment memorandums and beyond, including conducting thorough legal due diligence with the internal/external legal advisors in relation to any fund terms or issues before commitment, handling negotiations with any fund manager with respect to fund terms or any other matter, and present the Investment Recommendation to the Investment Committee.
Carry out off-site and on-site (i.e. due diligence visits) examination of the GPs e.g. performance, investment strategy and processes, team, competitive advantage, fund commercial and legal terms (review & negotiation), peer comparison, etc.
Participate in managing the GP relationships relating to the PE portfolio of funds (e.g. monitoring and benchmarking performance; attending LPAC meetings, attending major international and regional PE conferences, etc.).
Participate in formulating the investment strategy, portfolio planning and investment processes and laying down the relevant Real Asset team’s (e.g. portfolio split by sub strategy, region and fund size; General Partner (GP)/fund selection criteria; due diligence process; investment templates and process, monitoring process; etc.
Attend internal meetings with fund managers and senior management team as required. Prepare material and questions for meetings and manager conferences, and prepare reports on all advisory board meetings.
Demonstrate sound understanding of the different sub asset classes in Real Assets and understanding of risk/return attributes. Identifies different risk/return attributes to Real Assets and the main elements to construct a well-diversified portfolio.
Work with databases to identify potential managers using pre-set selection criteria including quantitative and qualitative credentials. Utilizes a network of industry contacts to obtain relevant information on potential managers.
Use proprietary tools (Preqin, eFront, Albourne, Green Street etc) for research.
Maintain and update records for all activities in the assigned market/fund. Requests information from various sources and provides research findings to other personnel within the group. Attends meetings with CIO where portfolio presentations are given and resulting discussions take place on future strategy and when specific portfolio guidelines are agreed.
Demonstrate sound understanding of various markets and managers and the changes affecting them.
Maintain strong relationships/business contacts with LPs and intermediaries/consultants that serve as a sourcing tool.
Carry out ad hoc studies/analysis, preparing reports and recommending literature for subscriptions.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or equivalent.
Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics or equivalent is preferred.
CFA / ACCA / CMA or equivalent is preferred.
Nature of Experience
6+ years Prior experience in Investment Management and Financial Services Industry e.g. Pension Fund, Endowment and/or Family Office.
Experience using SunGard, eFront systems
