Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of experience in commissioning, technical compliance, and performance assessment of power generation and water infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing mechanical systems, verifying test results, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards during the commissioning phase. This role requires expertise in power plants (CCGT, OCGT, Solar PV, Wind, BESS) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Witness and oversee the commissioning and testing of mechanical systems in power and desalination plants.
Conduct technical reviews, performance evaluations, and compliance verification of mechanical components, including turbines, pumps, piping, valves, and heat exchangers.
Assess test results provided by EPC contractors, ensuring alignment with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
Identify mechanical faults, inefficiencies, and potential failures, providing technical recommendations for improvement.
Prepare and submit detailed Test Findings Reports, including:
Summary of test results and observations
Description of tests performed and methodology
Compliance evaluation with contractual and regulatory requirements
Independent review, recommendations, and corrective action plans
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, EPC contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure seamless project execution.
Ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of mechanical equipment throughout commissioning and operational phases.
Support ongoing mechanical system optimizations, troubleshooting, and design improvements.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations in all project activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, commissioning, and testing for power and water projects.
Strong knowledge of thermal, hydraulic, and mechanical systems used in power plants and desalination facilities.
Familiarity with boilers, turbines, compressors, pumps, piping networks, and HVAC systems.
Experience with mechanical design, stress analysis, and fluid dynamics using industry-standard tools.
Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or equivalent.
Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, technical drawings, and test reports.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Willingness to be on-site in Abu Dhabi during commissioning phases and manage required permits (CICPA if applicable).
Preferred Certifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is a plus.
HSE and industry-specific certifications (e.g., PMP, ISO Auditor) are advantageous.
