Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented Furniture Designer for one of our construction client in Al Ain,UAE.The ideal candidate will combine creativity, technical design skills, and a deep understanding of materials and production processes to design functional and aesthetically pleasing furniture pieces. As a Furniture Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing the creation of furniture products, ensuring they meet both client needs and manufacturing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Development:
Conceptualize and design innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing furniture pieces.
Create detailed drawings, renderings, and prototypes for furniture designs, including dimensions, material specifications, and finishes.
Research and stay updated on design trends, materials, and innovations within the furniture industry.
Collaborate with other designers, architects, and project managers to develop furniture that fits within broader interior design plans.
Client Consultation:
Work directly with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and functional requirements.
Present design concepts, sketches, and prototypes to clients and incorporate feedback into final designs.
Provide clients with professional advice on material selection, furniture styles, color schemes, and finishes.
Material Selection & Sourcing:
Choose the appropriate materials for each project based on durability, design aesthetic, cost, and functionality (e.g., wood, metal, fabric, leather).
Source high-quality materials and collaborate with suppliers to acquire materials within project budgets.
Ensure all materials meet safety standards, sustainability goals, and client preferences.
Prototyping and Product Development:
Create prototypes or 3D models of new designs to test functionality, aesthetics, and ergonomics.
Work closely with manufacturing teams to translate designs into physical products, ensuring designs can be efficiently produced.
Conduct quality control checks and troubleshoot any issues related to design and production.
Project Management:
Manage multiple furniture design projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
Coordinate with manufacturers, carpenters, fabricators, and other craftsmen to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
Oversee the production process, ensuring that quality standards are met and adjustments are made as necessary.
Sustainability & Innovation:
Incorporate sustainable design principles into furniture creation, including the use of eco-friendly materials and production methods.
Stay informed about new technologies and techniques in furniture manufacturing and design, such as 3D printing, smart furniture, and sustainable practices.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate documentation of design concepts, sketches, and specifications for each project.
Prepare design presentations for clients, including visual renderings, cost estimates, and project timelines.
Keep detailed records of orders, materials used, and suppliers for future reference.
Collaboration & Teamwork:
Work closely with interior designers, architects, and other team members to ensure seamless integration of furniture into larger design schemes.
Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to present new furniture designs to clients and expand the product range.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
Formal training or certification in furniture design, woodworking, or related disciplines is a plus.
Experience:
Proven experience in furniture design, with a portfolio showcasing a variety of designs, styles, and furniture types.
Minimum of [X] years of experience working as a furniture designer, industrial designer, or in a related field.
Experience working with furniture manufacturers or in a production environment is an advantage.
Skills:
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, or Adobe Creative Suite.
Strong understanding of materials, finishes, and manufacturing techniques for furniture.
Ability to create detailed drawings, 3D models, and prototypes.
Strong understanding of ergonomics, functionality, and form in furniture design.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and internal teams.
Creative problem-solving skills and an ability to work within project constraints (budget, timelines, etc.).
Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality designs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to visualize and work on multiple design concepts, and occasionally perform hands-on work in a workshop or manufacturing setting.
Comfortable with occasional site visits to oversee production or installations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with 3D printing and other modern design and manufacturing technologies.
Familiarity with furniture design for both residential and commercial projects.
Experience with furniture customization or bespoke design for high-end clients.
Knowledge of sustainability practices and eco-friendly material sourcing.
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
The position may require time spent in an office, design studio, or workshop setting, depending on project needs.
Occasional site visits to manufacturing plants or client locations may be required.
Standard working hours with the possibility of overtime during peak project periods.
