A Kitchen Steward in hotel apartments is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and smooth support operations in the kitchen and food service areas.
ain Duties and ResponsibilitiesCleaning and Sanitation
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, trays, and kitchen equipment
- Clean kitchen floors, walls, workstations, storage areas, and garbage rooms
- Sanitize food preparation surfaces according to hygiene standards
- Ensure all cleaning chemicals are used safely and stored properly
Kitchen Support
- Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic preparation tasks when needed
- Transport food supplies and kitchen items between storage and kitchen areas
- Refill cleaning supplies and maintain stock of stewarding materials
Waste Management
- Collect and dispose of garbage properly
- Separate recyclable and food waste according to hotel policy
- Maintain cleanliness around waste disposal areas
Equipment Handling
- Operate dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment
- Report damaged kitchen equipment or maintenance issues
- Store cleaned items correctly to avoid breakage or contamination
Hygiene and Safety
- Follow HACCP and food safety procedures
- Wear proper uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Help maintain compliance with municipality and health regulations
- Prevent accidents by keeping work areas dry and organized
Inventory and Storage
- Assist with receiving deliveries
- Organize kitchen utensils and storage shelves
- Help monitor stewarding supplies such as detergents and gloves
Skills Required
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for long hours
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Basic understanding of food hygiene
- Time management and attention to cleanliness
- Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays
