ROLE SUMMARY
The Junior IT Specialist provides first-line technical support to all staff and maintains the company’s end-user devices, accounts and systems. The role supports the IT department’s day-to-day service delivery, the testing of internal platform releases, and the automation of routine tasks. Initiative and ideas for improving how the company works are expected and welcomed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide first-line support for hardware, software, network, printing, telephony and meeting-room equipment; log, resolve or escalate every request and close it with the user.
· Administer user accounts, licences, mailboxes and access in Microsoft 365 / Entra ID, including the IT steps of staff onboarding and offboarding.
· Set up, deploy, maintain and recover laptops and mobile devices; keep the IT asset and licence register accurate and track renewals and warranties.
· Apply basic security hygiene: updates and patching, endpoint protection, access reviews, backup checks, and reporting of suspicious activity.
· Test new releases of the company’s internal platform before staff use them;
· Maintain operational configuration data in company systems (reference lists, categories, department settings) so it stays current.
· Identify repetitive manual tasks and assist in automating them with scripts, workflow tools or AI-assisted tooling.
· Keep IT procedures and user guides up to date; liaise with suppliers on quotations, deliveries and support cases.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential
· 1–2 years in IT support or a hands-on technical role; recent graduates with relevant practical experience are welcome to apply.
· Working knowledge of Windows and macOS, Microsoft 365 administration, and basic networking.
· Clear written and spoken English; able to document procedures and report faults precisely.
· Methodical and service-oriented: follows procedures, escalates rather than guesses, and remains courteous under pressure.
Desirable
· Interest in automation and AI tooling, shown through personal or academic projects — scripts, small applications, integrations or workflow automations.
· Scripting in Python, PowerShell or Bash; basic SQL.
· Exposure to Intune or another MDM, a ticketing system, or workflow platforms such as Power Automate, n8n or Zapier.
· ITIL Foundation certification preferred; CompTIA A+ or Microsoft 365 Fundamentals an advantage.
