Role Description

An HSE Engineer ensures project safety and environmental compliance by translating regulations into practical on-site actions. They manage risk through audits and contractor reviews, lead incident investigations, and coordinate training to build a proactive safety culture. Ultimately, they bridge the gap between SDV policy and daily operations to protect both the workforce and the environment.

·      Ensure the project follows the SDV HSE Management System, including policies, procedures, and legal requirements. This includes aligning with ISO standards and client-specific frameworks.

·      Evaluate and approve HSE plans, risk assessments, method statements, and emergency procedures submitted by contractors before work begins.

·      Perform daily and weekly site inspections to verify compliance with safety protocols, identify hazards, and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.

·      Provide directions to HSE Contractor, ensuring they monitor site activities effectively and consistently enforce safety requirements.

·      Conduct induction training, toolbox talks, and specialized safety training to enhance workforce competency and promote a strong safety culture.

·      Lead or oversee investigations of incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. Ensure root causes are identified, and corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.

·      Develop, test, and evaluate emergency response plans, ensuring drills are conducted as per project requirements and performance standards.

·      Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure compliance with legal requirements and smooth communication on HSE matters.

·      Compile and submit monthly HSE performance reports, inspection findings, incident statistics, and compliance updates to the client and project management.

·      Identify opportunities to enhance HSE performance, recommend improvements, and support initiatives that strengthen safety culture across the project.

·      Advises and assists the most senior construction site representative in the establishment and management of SDV Management SH&E processes, identifying and eliminating/controlling any hazards to persons and property.

·      Develops site-specific work plans, SH&E compliance programs, training programs, and orientation plans fully conforming to relevant SH&E regulations, and client requirements.

·      Collaborates with SH&E and project and program managers to evaluate contractors’ SH&E performance, planning, and culture to be consistent with the company’s risk management practices and core values.

·      Audits projects and programs and their worksites against SDV corporate and client standards; to detect and correct safety hazards, creates, and submits written audit reports.

·      Conducts trend analysis on audit findings, inspection results, and incident reports, and prepares comprehensive analytical reports for SDV management and client review.

·      Leads and supervises the emergency response team and first‑aid personnel, ensuring effective support during emergencies and proper care for occupational injuries or illnesses.

·      Prepares, reviews, and validates occupational safety and health statistical reports.

·      Performs additional duties and responsibilities relevant to the role as required by project or organizational needs.

Qualifications

·      Minimum 12+ years of construction safety management experience in middle east region out of which at least 5 years shall be as Lead OSH Engineer/ Manager on Construction Supervision or Project management role with reputed consultants.

·      Previous experience in Building (villa/high-rise/warehouse) & infrastructure projects

·      Minimum level -06 qualifications (NVQ, NEBOSH International diploma) or above will be added advantage.  

·      ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and recognized auditor qualification.

·      Must be familiar with ADOSH-SF standard other local compliance and regulation.

·      OSH management experience in both Infrastructure and Buildings construction projects.

·      Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication and report writing skills.

·      Exceptional in Microsoft word, excel and PPT.

·      Ability to perform in a supervisory/managerial capacity.

·      Holds valid UAE Driver’s license.

·      Excellent communication and organizational skills

·      Experience working in Abu Dhabi is highly preferred

·      Candidate currently in UAE is mandatory
