About the Role
Kingston Education Training Centre is seeking an experienced Fashion Design professional with teaching or industry training experience to deliver engaging, practical, and creative learning sessions. The successful candidate will inspire learners by combining design theory with hands-on techniques, helping them develop the skills required for careers in the fashion industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver interactive classroom training sessions, workshops, and practical demonstrations in Fashion Design.
- Teach core fashion design topics, including fashion illustration, garment construction, pattern making, textile and fabric knowledge, color theory, fashion history, trend forecasting, draping, and fashion production processes.
- Guide learners through the complete design process, from concept development and mood boards to final garment creation.
- Incorporate practical projects, live demonstrations, portfolio development, and industry case studies into lessons.
- Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback on creative and technical work.
- Prepare and deliver engaging training materials that support effective learning outcomes.
- Encourage creativity, innovation, and professional design practices in an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Keep learners informed about current fashion trends, sustainability practices, and emerging technologies in the fashion industry.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Technology, Apparel Design, Textile Design, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in the fashion design industry.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, textiles, fashion illustration, and apparel production.
- Previous teaching, lecturing, corporate training, mentoring, or classroom instruction experience is required.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or similar fashion design applications.
Preferred
- Experience working with established fashion brands, apparel manufacturers, or as an independent fashion designer.
- Knowledge of sustainable fashion practices and ethical production methods.
- Experience guiding students in portfolio development and fashion collections.
- Familiarity with digital fashion design tools, CAD software, and current fashion industry trends.
- Participation in fashion shows, exhibitions, or commercial fashion projects is an advantage.
