The post holder is responsible for the delivery of Ground Security training programs to the Response team through courses and workshops, ensuring that all Response Team Security staff are well-trained with weapons and basic tactics, incident responses and capable of performing their duties efficiently and safely.

Additionally, ensuring that other airport workers and stakeholders receive requisite security training and briefings in accordance with mandated international security standards, as required. It includes weapon training and assisting in the conduct of 6-monthly range shoots for Response Team personnel, continuous assessment and improvement of security training procedures and implementing various training methods and best practice to develop and enhance staff skills and performance.

All training must be compliant with the Regulatory requirements of ICAO Document 8973 Aviation Security, MOI ROE and the ICAA National Civil Aviation Security Training Program (NCASTP).

A solid knowledge of performance management tools, techniques, and utilizing ‘state of the art’ technology, is vital, along with the ability to forge relationships with peers and customers.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
a) Regulatory requirements: Demonstrate excellent knowledge of all pertinent security regulations and standard operating procedures, the training requirements of the ICAO Document 8973 Security Manual, the ICAA National Civil Aviation Security Training Program (NCASTP) and the MOI Rules of Engagement.
b) Lesson Plans & Courses : Assist in the development, and then deliver comprehensive ground security Response training programs, including lesson plans, exercises and instructional materials for all identified training courses – specifically the core regulated security courses for a Response Team Security Officer (RSO), the supervisory and specialist courses for the experienced Response staff (RSS), incident management, Rules of Engagement and for all airport staff the General Security Awareness Training (GSAT) and customer service courses. Create and conduct training sessions on Response Team security protocols, procedures, and regulations.
c) Course Preparation & Delivery : Organize and prepare all courses to international standards, quality checked against stated learning objectives, then delivered in the national language of Iraq or, when required, in English. (Ensure all courses, lesson plans, examinations and power point presentations are written in Arabic and English).
d) On-Boarding Induction: Assist the HoS Security Training in the conduct of effective induction and orientation sessions for all new security hires.
e) Weapon Training: Deliver basic Weapon Training modules to Ground Security Staff including: the safety and operation of weapons, ammunition, marksmanship, dry shooting training, basic tactics and Rules of Engagement.
f) Range Shoots: Assist the HoS Response Team (QRF) (Range Conducting Officer), and Range Safety Officers in the conduct and supervision of the 6-monthly range shoots for all Response Team personnel.
g) Incident Response Training: Educating staff on how to handle various security incidents, from minor infractions to serious breaches.
h) Instructional Design: Apply instructional design methodologies to improve training effectiveness and job performance.
i) Examinations: Ensure that all courses and examinations are delivered to the standard, content and required level of knowledge; that examination results are rigorously evaluated & appropriate remedial action initiated where necessary.
j) Course Certification: Issue course certificates to successful candidates after course completion.
k) Maintaining Records: Maintain accurate records of all training activities, certifications, and employee progress and ensure that staff and training records are properly filed and secured in accordance with Training Manual procedures.
l) Methods: Deploy a wide variety of interactive and hands-on training methods, such as simulations and role playing, using visual exercises, varying incident scenarios, and both field and table top exercises, to make learning more engaging & practical.
m) Workshops: Assist in organizing GNDSEC workshops and seminars to meet the practical aspects of training needs and staff development.
n) Mentorship & On-the-Job training: Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to new staff, offering feedback and addressing areas of low performance.
o) Assess and evaluate trainees: Monitor and assess the progress of trainees, providing feedback and guidance to ensure they meet the required standards.
p) Maintain training materials: Update and maintain training materials to ensure they are current and effective.
q) Currency: Keep current with the latest developments, training trends and industry best practices in airport operations, security regulations, and training methodologies to ensure that the training syllabuses are current and effective.
r) Collaborate with stakeholders: Work with the HoS Security Training and with HoS Response, to ensure that training programs and courses meet organizational needs.
