Job Description: Electrical Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, analysis, and execution of electrical systems related to power transmission networks, substations, and electrical infrastructure projects.
The role requires strong technical knowledge in transmission system design, electrical network studies, project execution, and compliance with UAE and international electrical standards. The candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and clients to deliver reliable, efficient, and safe electrical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and review electrical designs for power transmission systems, substations, and related electrical infrastructure.
- Prepare and review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Perform electrical calculations and engineering studies to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and compliance with project requirements.
- Support the development of technical solutions considering performance, safety, cost-effectiveness, and operational requirements.
Power System Studies and Analysis:
- Conduct and support power network studies, including:
- Load flow analysis
- Short circuit calculations
- Voltage stability studies
- Protection coordination studies
- System performance assessments
- Analyze study results and provide technical recommendations for improving system performance and reliability.
Project Execution and Technical Support:
- Provide technical support throughout project phases, including engineering design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, consultants, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
- Review technical submissions, drawings, calculations, and documentation from contractors and suppliers.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues during project execution.
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, efficiency, and project execution methods.
- Provide innovative engineering solutions to meet project objectives.
Standards, Compliance, and Documentation:
- Ensure all electrical designs and engineering activities comply with:
- UAE electrical regulations and utility requirements
- International standards including IEC, IEEE, and other applicable electrical codes
- Prepare technical reports, engineering documents, specifications, and project records.
- Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, engineering decisions, and project progress.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven 10 year experience with minimum 5 year in UAE in electrical engineering design and power systems.
- Strong knowledge of power transmission systems, substations, and electrical network analysis.
- Experience in electrical design, engineering execution, and commissioning activities.
- Knowledge of UAE electrical standards and utility.
- Good understanding of international electrical standards including IEC and IEEE.
- Experience with power system analysis software such as ETAP, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working on HV/MV/LV transmission, substations, or utility projects.
- Experience with EPC projects and electrical infrastructure development.
- Familiarity with protection systems, power quality, and electrical system reliability studies.
- Experience working with UAE electricity authorities or international utility companies is an advantage.
Work Environment
- The position will be based between the Abu Dhabi office and project facilities located on remote locations and outside UAE assignments.
- The role requires coordination between office-based engineering activities and on-site project support, including inspections, technical reviews, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Candidates should be comfortable working in challenging environment and travelling to the site as required.
- Transportation and site access arrangements will be provided according to project requirements.
- The role may involve occasional extended site visits depending on project activities and project execution schedules.
