A skilled and patient-focused Dental Nurse responsible for assisting dentists during dental procedures, preparing treatment rooms and instruments, maintaining infection-control standards, and providing compassionate patient care. Supports the dental team in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality dental services while maintaining accurate clinical records.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during routine and complex dental procedures and treatments.
- Prepare dental treatment rooms, instruments, and equipment before and after procedures.
- Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and maintain strict infection-control standards.
- Prepare patients for dental examinations and procedures and provide reassurance when required.
- Assist with dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, root canal treatments, crowns, bridges, and minor oral surgery.
- Prepare and handle dental materials, instruments, and medications as directed by the dentist.
- Maintain and monitor dental equipment to ensure it is clean, safe, and ready for use.
- Take and develop dental X-rays when appropriately trained and authorized.
- Record and update patient medical and dental histories accurately.
- Maintain proper clinical documentation and treatment records.
- Provide patients with post-treatment and oral-health care instructions.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive dental care, and proper brushing and flossing techniques.
- Manage dental supplies and ensure adequate stock of instruments and consumables.
- Follow infection-prevention, health-and-safety, and sterilization protocols.
- Assist with patient appointments, follow-ups, and coordination with the reception team when required.
- Communicate professionally with patients, dentists, hygienists, and other healthcare staff.
- Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and professional standards at all times.
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies within the scope of practice and clinic protocols.
