Chief Accountant Jobs in Doha at The Holding Group of Companies
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end and year-end closing, reconciliations, compliance, and supporting management with accurate financial information.
The ideal candidate should have strong accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and hands-on experience with accounting systems and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the company’s daily accounting operations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting entries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Handle month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
- Perform bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Review invoices, payments, receipts, and supporting documents.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with cash-flow forecasting.
- Prepare financial statements, including the Statement of Financial Position, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment and classification of transactions.
- Monitor company expenses and assist in budget preparation and cost control.
- Coordinate with external auditors and provide the required financial documents and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and Qatar regulations.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records.
- Identify accounting discrepancies and take corrective action.
- Provide financial analysis and reports to management when required.
- Supervise and guide junior accounting staff.
- Support management in financial planning, budgeting, and decision-making.
- Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with experience in a Chief Accountant or senior accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Good knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
- Experience with accounting software/ERP systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Good understanding of financial controls and accounting procedures.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience in Qatar/GCC is preferred.
- Knowledge of Qatar tax, VAT, and other applicable financial regulations is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience in a multi-company or fast-paced business environment.
- Experience handling audits and working with external auditors.
- GCC/Qatar accounting experience will be an advantage.
