Job Title: Civil & Structural Engineer
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Civil & Structural Engineer with 10+ years of expertise in commissioning, technical compliance, and structural assessments for major water and power infrastructure projects. The role involves conducting structural evaluations, verifying compliance with engineering standards, and providing expert oversight during commissioning and testing phases. The selected candidate will ensure that all civil and structural components meet contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and witness commissioning and testing of civil and structural works at project sites, ensuring compliance with design and regulatory standards.
Conduct structural integrity assessments and analyze test results for power plants (CCGT, OCGT, Solar PV, Wind, Battery Storage) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants.
Verify that foundations, support structures, and load-bearing elements meet engineering specifications and operational requirements.
Identify design deviations, structural risks, or non-conformities, and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare and submit detailed Test Findings Reports, including:
Summary of commissioning test results
Structural analysis and assessment reports
Compliance evaluation with contractual and regulatory requirements
Recommendations for structural enhancements and process improvements
Collaborate with EPC contractors, project teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless project execution.
Provide technical expertise in structural troubleshooting, material selection, and reinforcement strategies.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards during all phases of work.
Support ongoing structural optimization efforts to enhance project durability and sustainability.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in civil and structural engineering within power and water projects.
Proven expertise in foundation design, structural load analysis, and durability assessments.
Familiarity with concrete, steel, and composite structures used in power plants and desalination facilities.
Strong knowledge of international standards and best practices (e.g., ACI, AISC, ASCE, BS, Eurocodes).
Experience with structural modeling software such as STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, or equivalent.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Willingness to be on-site in Abu Dhabi during commissioning phases and manage required permits (CICPA if applicable).
Preferred Certifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is a plus.
HSE and industry-specific certifications (e.g., PMP, ISO Auditor) are advantageous.
