About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Automotive Mechanical Engineer with strong hands-on experience in classic car restoration to join our workshop in Ajman.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of classic and vintage vehicle mechanical systems, with the ability to diagnose, rebuild, restore, modify, and improve mechanical components while maintaining the originality and character of the vehicle.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is passionate about classic cars, restoration, mechanical engineering, and automotive craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the mechanical restoration of classic and vintage vehicles.
- Inspect and assess the mechanical condition of classic vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and determine restoration or replacement requirements.
- Rebuild and restore engines, transmissions, differentials, suspension, steering, braking, and cooling systems.
- Work with original, refurbished, and upgraded components while maintaining the vehicle’s classic character.
- Identify suitable replacement parts and advise on sourcing or fabrication where original parts are unavailable.
- Supervise and coordinate with mechanics, technicians, and fabricators during restoration projects.
- Develop practical mechanical solutions for obsolete or hard-to-source components.
- Assist with mechanical modifications and upgrades where required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, workshop manuals, and vehicle specifications.
- Inspect completed mechanical work and ensure proper fitment, functionality, and quality.
- Conduct testing and troubleshooting after restoration or repair.
- Prepare technical reports, inspection notes, material requirements, and work progress updates.
- Coordinate with the workshop team to ensure projects are completed according to agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Maintain proper documentation of restoration work and mechanical modifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Automotive Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant automotive mechanical experience.
- Strong experience in classic car restoration is highly preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of automotive mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with engine rebuilding and mechanical restoration.
- Strong understanding of older and modern automotive technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
- Experience working with rare, vintage, or hard-to-source automotive components is an advantage.
- Strong practical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work closely with mechanics, fabricators, and workshop teams.
- Passion for classic cars and automotive restoration.
- UAE experience is preferred.
