Job Purpose:

The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations. This role involves managing the AP team, maintaining strong vendor relationships, improving processes, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial policies.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Accounts Payable Operations:

Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.

Ensure invoices are properly coded, approved, and recorded in compliance with company policies.

Monitor and enforce adherence to payment terms, avoiding late fees.

Manage payment processing (checks, wire transfers, ACH, and other payment methods).

Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledger with the general ledger.

2. Team Management & Leadership:

Supervise and train AP staff, ensuring high performance and professional development.

Assign and oversee daily workload, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.

Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching as needed.

3. Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

Maintain strong relationships with vendors and resolve any payment disputes or discrepancies.

Address vendor inquiries regarding payments and outstanding balances.

4. Process Improvement & Compliance:

Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and relevant tax regulations.

Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.

5. Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare and present AP aging reports, cash flow projections.

Monitor key performance metrics (e.g., invoice processing time, error rates, payment cycle times).

Qualifications & Skills:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of experience in accounts payable, with at least 1 years in a managerial role.

Strong knowledge of AP processes, financial controls, and accounting principles.

Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, Oracle or similar) and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications.

Experience in a multinational or large corporate environment.

Knowledge of automation tools and AP best practices.
