Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, and assemble metal materials using hand and power tools.
- Perform welding using MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), Flux-Cored (FCAW), or other approved welding processes.
- Fabricate and repair metal structures, frames, brackets, tanks, pipes, and equipment components.
- Prepare metal surfaces by grinding, cleaning, and fitting materials before welding.
- Inspect welds for quality, strength, and dimensional accuracy, making repairs as required.
- Operate fabrication equipment such as cutting machines, grinders, drills, presses, and bending machines.
- Perform basic metal finishing, including grinding, polishing, and surface preparation.
- Ensure all fabrication and welding work complies with engineering specifications, company standards, and applicable codes.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Complete work orders, inspection reports, and fabrication records accurately.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Technical diploma, vocational certification, or trade qualification in Welding, Fabrication, or a related field.
- Valid welding certification (preferred or required depending on the employer and applicable standards).
- Previous experience in welding and metal fabrication is preferred.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and/or FCAW welding processes.
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication techniques and welding procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Skilled in using welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication equipment.
- Good measuring, layout, and fitting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
