Job Title: CSSD Technician
Job Summary:
As an experienced CSSD Technician with 3 years of professional experience and a valid DOH license, you will be responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and medical equipment used within the healthcare facility. Your role will ensure that all equipment is properly sterilized, prepared, and ready for use in various medical and surgical procedures, maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Sterilization of Medical Equipment:
Clean, sterilize, and disinfect surgical instruments, medical devices, and other healthcare equipment in accordance with established protocols and standards.
Operate and maintain autoclaves, sterilizers, and other sterilization equipment to ensure the proper sterilization of instruments.
Ensure that sterilization processes are conducted according to the required standards, including the use of chemical indicators, biological indicators, and proper monitoring.
Instrument Preparation:
Inspect and prepare surgical instruments for use, ensuring all items are accounted for, functioning properly, and meet safety standards.
Assemble, package, and label surgical instrument sets according to the specifications required by the operating room staff.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels of sterile supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock for upcoming surgeries and medical procedures.
Maintain proper storage, labeling, and tracking of sterilized instruments and supplies to avoid contamination.
Perform regular checks to ensure that sterilization equipment and supplies are in good working condition.
Quality Control and Compliance:
Adhere to strict hygiene, sterilization, and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety and compliance with health regulations.
Record sterilization cycles, maintenance logs, and ensure proper documentation is completed for each procedure in compliance with hospital and DOH regulations.
Ensure all sterilization processes meet or exceed the required DOH standards and guidelines.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform routine checks, maintenance, and calibration of sterilization equipment, identifying and addressing any malfunctions or deficiencies.
Troubleshoot equipment failures and report issues promptly to supervisors or the relevant department.
Infection Control:
Ensure proper infection control practices are followed at all times to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe, sterile environment for patients and healthcare staff.
Regularly update knowledge of infection control protocols and best practices to maintain high standards of hygiene.
Collaboration with Medical Staff:
Work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure that all sterilized instruments are available and properly prepared for surgeries or medical procedures.
Communicate effectively with team members regarding the readiness of instruments, supplies, and any potential issues.
Qualifications:
3 years of experience as a CSSD Technician within a healthcare environment.
Valid DOH license
Proven experience with sterilization equipment (autoclaves, sterilizers, ultrasonic washers, etc.).
Strong understanding of infection control procedures, hygiene practices, and regulatory compliance in healthcare settings.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail in managing sterilized items and maintaining inventory.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals.
Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Desirable Skills:
Certification or further training in CSSD or sterilization processes.
Familiarity with hospital-specific sterilization protocols and regulations.
Knowledge of the latest sterilization technologies and methods.
