Overview
The Waiter/Waitress is responsible for providing outstanding service to restaurant guests. This includes presenting menu options, offering recommendations when needed, serving food and beverages, and addressing guest inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and seat guests as they enter the restaurant.
- Present menus, answer questions about menu items, and offer recommendations.
- Take accurate food and drink orders using a POS system (Micros).
- Communicate with the kitchen about orders and be clear about guests’ special requests.
- Ensure timely delivery of meals and drinks.
- Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction and provide additional assistance as needed.
- Process payments, issue receipts, and handle cash or card transactions.
- Keep tables and the dining area tidy at all times.
- Follow all health & safety, food safety and hygiene regulations and hotel procedures.
- Monitor stock and supplies in the restaurant and communicate shortages (e.g., linen, glassware).
- Support opening and closing procedures.
- Take reservations in coordination with the supervisor and hostess/host, if necessary due to special guest requests.
- Monitor operating supplies and equipment to reduce spoilage and waste.
- Ensure Food and Beverage orders are of a consistently good standard and delivered promptly.
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by hotel management.

Background

- High school diploma preferred but often not required.
- Previous hospitality or food service experience.
