VoIP Routing & SBC Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced VoIP Routing & SBC Engineer to manage, optimize, and support carrier-grade voice services and SIP interconnection platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for SIP routing design, Session Border Controller (SBC) administration, voice quality optimization, carrier interconnectivity, and advanced troubleshooting of VoIP services.

This role requires strong expertise in SIP signaling, IP networking, SBC platforms, voice quality monitoring, and carrier telecommunications environments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of supporting mission-critical voice infrastructures and delivering high service availability.

Key Responsibilities

Core Voice Routing

  • Design, implement, and optimize SIP routing tables and dial plans.
  • Configure and maintain SIP trunks with telecom carriers, partners, and enterprise customers.
  • Manage inbound and outbound call routing to ensure service efficiency and reliability.
  • Analyze and resolve routing issues affecting voice services and interconnections.
  • Support number portability and routing configurations.

Incident Management & Troubleshooting

  • Provide Tier-2 and Tier-3 support for complex voice and signaling issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve:
  • Call setup failures
  • One-way audio issues
  • No audio scenarios
  • SIP registration failures
  • Call drops
  • SIP signaling errors
  • Analyze SIP traces, PCAP captures, CDRs, syslogs, and network logs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.

Session Border Controller (SBC) Administration

  • Configure, administer, and optimize SBC platforms for:
  • SIP normalization
  • Security enforcement
  • NAT traversal
  • Topology hiding
  • Interoperability management
  • Support and maintain platforms such as:
  • AudioCodes SBC
  • Ribbon Communications SBC
  • Oracle SBC
  • Cisco Voice Platforms
  • Huawei Voice Platforms
  • Ensure secure and reliable interconnection between internal and external networks.

Quality of Service (QoS) Monitoring

  • Monitor and analyze voice quality metrics, including:
  • Jitter
  • Latency
  • Packet Loss
  • MOS (Mean Opinion Score)
  • Implement network and routing optimizations to maintain service quality.
  • Ensure compliance with customer SLAs and performance targets.

Carrier Interconnection & Testing

  • Perform SIP interoperability testing with:
  • Telecom carriers
  • International operators
  • Enterprise customers
  • Validate:
  • SIP signaling compatibility
  • Codec negotiation
  • RTP media flow
  • DTMF functionality
  • Routing and portability requirements
  • Support onboarding of new carrier and customer interconnections.

Documentation & Change Management

  • Develop and maintain:
  • Network diagrams
  • Call flow documentation
  • Routing plans
  • Configuration backups
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Participate in maintenance windows and change implementation activities.
  • Ensure all changes follow established operational and governance processes.
