Job Specifications:
Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries.
Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds.
Restores health by treating animals surgically or medically.
Prevents rabies, brucellosis and other disorders by testing animals, providing vaccinations.
Collect body tissue, animal waste, blood, urine, or other body fluids for examination and analysis.
Train and supervise workers who handle animals.
Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs and animal records.
Establish and conduct testing procedures that prevent the spread of diseases to other animals or to humans and that comply with applicable government regulations.
Plan and execute animal nutrition and reproduction programs.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Research diseases to which animals could be susceptible.
Perform any other duties assigned by manager.
