We are currently looking for experienced Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) Operators to join our team and support safe and efficient maritime operations.
About the Role
Qualification: The VTS operator shall have:
- a) Minimum of Second O icer (Second Mate) certificate “STCWexperience as navigating o icer on a Merchant Marine vessel.
- II/1” with 3 (three) years’
- school certificate. They also must have secured an IELTS score of 5.0 and above.
- c) Previous VTS and/or Port operations experience will be preferred.
- d) Recognized IALA VTS Operator Basic Training C-103/1.
- e) The qualification and training of Vessel Tra ic Service personnel shall meet the minimum
- standards prescribed under IMO Resolution A.1158(32), Guidelines for Vessel Tra ic Services,
- and any amendments or successor instruments thereto, and shall be interpreted as mandatory
- compliance requirements for all personnel performing VTS duties
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage vessel traffic within the designated VTS area using radar, AIS, VHF, and other systems
- Provide navigational assistance and information to vessels to ensure safe passage
- Coordinate vessel movements, arrivals, departures, and berthing operations
- Maintain continuous communication with vessels, port authorities, and relevant stakeholders
- Respond to emergencies and support incident management in coordination with authorities
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, local procedures, and safety standards
- Record and maintain accurate logs of vessel movements and communications
- Support overall marine traffic planning and congestion management
Required Skills
- COLREGs (Collision Regulations)
- Marine navigation and communication systems
- Port and offshore operations
- Experience in VTS operations, port control, or marine coordination is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)
- Ability to work in a 24/7 shift environment
- Strong decision-making skills, especially under pressure
