Responsible for managing vessel logistics associated with the timely and safe transportation of personnel and equipment to ensure KJO operations run seamlessly.
Main Responsibilities
Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Assists in the development and implementation of section policies, processes, and procedures to ensure all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled.
Day-to-day Operations
- Craft and implement strategic plans to streamline vessel logistics within the company’s operational framework.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimize vessel resource deployment, and equipment allocation.
- Reviews and evaluates daily/weekly marine logistics operations and requests from contractors, vessel operators, project teams, and departments. Assigned the required resources as required.
- Ensures all loading and offloading and mooring operations are conducted safely and effectively.
- Manage unforeseen challenges, such as adverse weather or equipment malfunctions, with minimal operational disruption.
- Supervise the inventory of vessel resources and equipment, facilitating prompt replenishments and maintenance as needed.
- Review qualifications of marine crew.
- Attend on fuel and cargo loading and off-loading operations.
- Ensure the company’s waste management system is implemented.
Dispatch Schedule
- Timely dispatch of orders to the vessel captains as required by represented department.
- Formulates week ahead schedules reports on logistics requirements of vessel, and crew movement.
Reporting and Data Analysis
- Maintain records of cargo movement, fuel usage, and water usage.
- Aggregate and evaluate data from vessel logistics operations to derive actionable insights for improvement.
- Document transportation events, fuel metrics, and associated costs meticulously.
- Regularly brief management on logistics performance, spotlighting key metrics and suggesting areas for optimization.
Task Assignments
- Review and monitor the logistics preparation of cargo manifests, supplies and back-load.
- Liaise with vessel logistics and port controller for the advance booking and allocation of suitable berths for vessels.
- Acts as focal point for all aspects of marine and vessel operation, liaising with both the vessel operator & operation department.
Coordination
- Coordinate with vessel owners and operators to maintain reliable efficient vessel, operated in line with regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Liaise with vessel logistics officer, the oil spill combating unit port controller for the allocation of vessel in an emergency.
- Coordinate vessel requirements with oil spill combating team during oil spill crises.
- Appoint work schedule and coordinate with logistics controller, marine surveyor & board controller.
Reporting
- Report any near miss and incident for his department assigned vessel.
- Report Weekly/ Monthly fuel consumption figures to management.
Budget
- Responsible for proactive management of supplies and logistics, cost control and with responsibility for delivering the operation of the vessel in line with approved running cost budget.
Safety, Health & Environment
- Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures in the section in order to promote a healthy and safe work environment.
- Assist in the investigation of marine incidents.
Additional Responsibilities
- The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties, which may be reasonably expected and forms part of the function of the post.
