As a Heritage Village Tour Guide, you will play a vital role in educating and immersing visitors in the rich cultural heritage of the UAE. Your primary responsibility will be to lead engaging and informative tours that showcase the lifestyle, traditions, and history of the people who lived in the UAE 70 years ago. You’ll share fascinating insights into the daily life, customs, and architecture of the past, providing a window into the UAE’s historical way of life.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Guided Tours: Lead interactive and informative tours for visitors, walking them through different sections of the heritage village and explaining how life was lived 70 years ago in the UAE.
Educate Visitors: Offer a detailed explanation of historical artifacts, buildings, and cultural practices from the past, including traditional crafts, farming, family structures, and the UAE’s ancient trade routes.
Bring History to Life: Use storytelling techniques to engage visitors, creating vivid descriptions of the customs, challenges, and community life of the UAE’s past.
Provide Historical Context: Offer background on key events, figures, and cultural influences that shaped life in the UAE during the mid-20th century.
Ensure an Engaging Experience: Adapt your tours to different audiences, from school children to international tourists, ensuring everyone leaves with a deeper understanding and appreciation of UAE heritage.
Maintain a Welcoming Atmosphere: Foster a friendly, informative, and respectful environment for all visitors, ensuring they feel comfortable and engaged throughout their tour.
Stay Updated: Keep informed about the latest developments in UAE heritage, history, and tourism to provide accurate and current information to visitors.
Qualifications & Skills:
Passion for UAE Culture: A deep love for the UAE’s history, heritage, and cultural traditions, particularly those from 70 years ago.
Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex historical and cultural topics in an easy-to-understand and engaging manner.
Fluent in English (Arabic language skills are a plus, but not required).
Friendly & Personable: An approachable personality with a genuine interest in interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.
Storytelling Ability: An engaging storyteller who can make history come to life, keeping visitors’ attention and sparking curiosity.
Knowledgeable: Familiarity with the history, customs, and lifestyle of the UAE from the 1950s and 1960s is highly desirable.
Previous Experience: Prior experience as a tour guide, educator, or in a customer-facing role is an advantage.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in hot weather and stand for extended periods.
Flexible schedule, with availability for weekends and holidays as required.
