Job Summary:
The Truck Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel and gasoline-powered trucks, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. The role includes troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance & Repair:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in trucks.
Perform engine overhauls, transmission repairs, brake system repairs, and suspension work.
Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
Replace or repair defective parts such as axles, drive belts, and fuel injectors.
Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed.
2. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
Use diagnostic tools and software to identify issues in truck systems.
Test drive trucks to verify repairs and detect further issues.
Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
3. Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all repairs comply with safety and environmental regulations.
Maintain detailed service records and complete inspection reports.
Follow workshop safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure all trucks meet company and regulatory standards before returning to service.
4. Tools & Equipment Management:
Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and workspaces.
Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous materials and fluids.
Report any defective tools or equipment to management.
5. Coordination & Reporting:
Communicate with drivers and fleet managers about vehicle issues.
Provide recommendations for preventive maintenance schedules.
Assist in inventory management for spare parts and supplies.
Qualifications & Requirements:
✅Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (Technical diploma in automotive mechanics is a plus).
Minimum3-5 yearsof experience as a Truck Mechanic.
Experience working withdiesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy vehiclesis required.
✅Technical Skills:
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Strong knowledge ofdiesel engine mechanics, suspension systems, and air brakes.
Ability to read and interpret repair manuals and schematics.
