Job Description Summary

Lead training engineer is expected to perform and lead all GE Substation Automation System field services training activities for both employees and customers, including delivering product, system, and process training, and providing ongoing support to ensure the standard and quality of field service execution.

Job Description

What you’ll do:

Identify, assess, and review the training needs of the team, products, and projects.

Organize and design site and factory training courses to match customer requirements.

Develop technical automation training manuals and programs that target tangible results for both utility and industrial customers, ensuring they are effective, up-to-date, and updated as necessary.

Implement effective and purposeful technical training methods.

Manage the training budget effectively.

Create a curriculum to facilitate strategic automation training based on customer requirements and goals.

Schedule training sessions and develop training plans.

Optimize the training process through customer feedback to meet their satisfaction.

Present new GE platforms and solutions through training and technical presentations for customers.

Estimate and control man-days (MD) within the scope of sales, tendering, projects, and technical support works.

Work closely with the ITO team to support new opportunities, including site surveys and deal estimations.

Manage customer training requests for projects and standalone product training.

Communicate effectively with customers to ensure excellent service and maintain customer relationships.

Understand GE business processes, including costing, tendering, contracting practices, terms and conditions, and logistics.

Provide and manage online training sessions for GE and customers.

Develop, deliver, and administer training programs for GE employees.

Possess knowledge of power system schemes in SABAP cluster and experience in utility and industrial power system designs, schemes, and communications.

Have experience with GE automation products, IEDs, and software.

Be experienced in protection relays testing, commissioning, and simulation file creation for relays.

Be familiar with all protection relay testing procedures and report preparation.

Have experience in site testing, commissioning, upgrades, modifications, and project execution for relays.

Know relay configuration, CID, communication, and wiring.

Be experienced in relay maintenance, fault analysis, setting calculations, and troubleshooting.

Handle all field service training activities, including delivery, support, and feedback to ensure quality standards.

Manage staffing and performance development, utilizing technical knowledge and analytical skills to execute policies and strategies.

Understand best practices and market differentiators, and propose solutions for complex manufacturing processes.

Serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues and lead small projects as needed.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications):

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power System.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in protection systems in substations, including technical, testing, and commissioning works in EPC, utilities, and industrial sectors.

Experience with industrial and utility EHS and site requirements.

Excellent written, communication, presentation, and training skills.

Proficiency in conflict resolution, group interaction, and team building.

Fluent in English and Arabic, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
