Job responsibilities
- Crane Assembly & Installation – Setting up the crane by assembling jib sections, counterweights, and other components according to manufacturer specifications.
- Structural Stability – Ensuring the crane is properly anchored and positioned for safe operation.
- Safety Compliance – Following strict safety protocols to prevent accidents during erection and dismantling.
- Inspection & Maintenance – Conducting routine checks to ensure the crane remains in optimal working condition.
Qualification
- Education & Training – While a formal degree isn’t required, vocational training in crane operations or mechanical engineering can be beneficial.
- Certification – Many countries require crane operators and erectors to hold specific certifications. In the UAE, for example, a Crane Operator License is mandatory.
- Safety Training – Courses on crane safety, lifting operations, and hazard prevention are essential.
- Experience – Practical experience in construction, rigging, or crane assembly is highly valued.
- Physical Fitness – The job requires working at heights and handling heavy equipment, so good physical condition is important.
