Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Joinery Incharge with extensive experience in the UAE construction industry, particularly in fitout projects. The Joinery Incharge will be responsible for overseeing the entire joinery process, including managing the production, installation, and quality control of wooden structures, fixtures, and fittings across various commercial and residential fitout projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Plan, coordinate, and oversee all joinery-related activities on-site, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Work closely with project managers, architects, and interior designers to understand project specifications and client requirements.
Monitor the progress of joinery works and resolve any issues that arise during the production or installation phases.
Team Management:
Lead and supervise a team of joiners, carpenters, and site workers, ensuring they are well-trained and motivated to meet project goals.
Allocate resources and assign tasks effectively to ensure the smooth operation of the joinery department.
Maintain a high level of team performance, including managing productivity, attendance, and the implementation of safety practices.
Material and Resource Management:
Oversee the procurement of materials and tools needed for joinery work, ensuring that they meet project specifications and industry standards.
Manage inventory levels, ensuring timely ordering and delivery of materials, and minimize wastage.
Liaise with suppliers to ensure the best quality materials are sourced at competitive prices.
Quality Control:
Ensure all joinery work complies with design, quality, and safety standards.
Conduct regular site inspections to assess work quality, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Implement a stringent quality control system to ensure the highest level of craftsmanship in all joinery and fitout installations.
Client and Stakeholder Communication:
Maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders, ensuring that all joinery-related requirements are clearly understood and executed.
Provide regular updates to senior management and clients regarding project timelines, budget adherence, and any issues that require attention.
Health and Safety:
Ensure that all joinery works are conducted in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Monitor and enforce safe working practices on site, ensuring that all workers are using the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to site safety protocols.
Budget and Cost Control:
Manage the joinery budget, ensuring that costs are controlled and work is completed within the financial parameters set for the project.
Identify areas where cost savings can be achieved without compromising quality and communicate this to the management team.
Technical Expertise:
Provide technical expertise and support to the team in relation to joinery and fitout techniques, including bespoke furniture, cabinetry, and wood finishes.
Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and construction techniques, applying this knowledge to enhance the quality of work and efficiency.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: At least 7-10 years of experience in joinery and fitout works, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a managerial or supervisory role, ideally within the UAE market.
Education: A degree or diploma in carpentry, joinery, or a related field. Additional certifications in project management or construction management are a plus.
Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of joinery techniques, materials, and tools used in fitout projects. Familiarity with the latest construction technologies and trends.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborate effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
Communication: Strong communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage), with the ability to engage with clients, contractors, and team members at all levels.
Project Management: Experience in managing large-scale fitout projects, from initial planning through to completion. Knowledge of project management software is beneficial.
Attention to Detail: A high level of attention to detail and craftsmanship, ensuring all joinery works meet client expectations and regulatory standards.
Health & Safety: Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations within the construction industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
UAE driving license.
Knowledge of local construction codes, regulations, and standards specific to the UAE market.
Experience with luxury fitout and high-end commercial/residential projects.
