Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Engineer to support our tendering, engineering, procurement and manufacturing activities.

The successful candidate must have strong experience in reviewing technical specifications, preparing material submittals, managing material coding and preparing technical documentation for tenders and awarded contracts, particularly for government and semi-government entities

The candidate should have practical technical knowledge of metals, including stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminium and iron, as well as chemicals, glass, wood, fabrication, welding and related manufacturing materials and process

Key Responsibilities.

  • Review tender documents, contracts, drawings, BOQs and technical specification
  • Identify material requirements and prepare complete material submittal packages
  • Prepare technical compliance statements, compliance sheets and supporting documents.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain technical data sheets, certificates, samples and test reports
  • Follow up on consultant comments, approvals, revisions and resubmissions.
  • Evaluate proposed materials and recommend technically compliant alternatives when required.
  • Create, classify and maintain material codes and material master data.
  • Ensure accurate material descriptions, specifications and units of measurement.
  • Maintain material-submittal logs, approval records and technical documentation.
  • Support Tendering, Estimation, Procurement, Production, Quality and Project teams.
  • Ensure that selected materials and fabricated products comply with approved specifications applicable standards.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of suppliers, manufacturers and proposed products before approval.
  • Prepare technical deviation, equivalency and alternative-material submissions when Required..

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of (8) eight years of proven UAE experience in technical engineering, material submittals, material approvals or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, construction or infrastructure projects in the UAE.
  • Strong experience with government and semi-government tenders, contracts, consultant approvals and technical submissions.
  • Strong knowledge of stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminium, iron, chemicals, glass, wood, welding materials and fabrication processes.
  • Experience in material coding and ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards such as ASTM, BS, EN, ISO and AWS.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and BOQs.
  • Strong technical writing, coordination, reporting and document-control skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD knowledge will be an advantage.
  • Applicants must currently be based in the UAE.
