Position Overview
Aldar Academies is seeking a Teacher – English and Media for Yas American Academy on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, starting August 2026. The Academy, opened in September 2016, delivers the Massachusetts Common Core Curriculum tailored for students, alongside local Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies content. Facilities include a large astro‑turf field, two swimming pools, a well‑stocked library, a multi‑purpose sports hall, an auditorium, and outdoor play areas.

Responsibilities
• Deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed and achieve the best possible outcomes.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan engaging lessons that meet curriculum requirements.
• Build positive relationships with all members of the school community, including parents and support staff.
• Plan, prepare, and present session plans that cater for the whole ability range within the class.
• Motivate pupils with enthusiastic and imaginative teaching.
• Observe and assess children in line with school assessments and use data to influence further planning.
• Provide feedback to parents and carers at Parent‑Teacher Conferences and other meetings.
• Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Participate in curriculum action groups, support the planning and assessment of resources, and contribute to special events.
• Run a weekly extracurricular activity (ECA) each term and support school events, outings, and activities that may take place on weekends or evenings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject and a BEd or PGCE in Education.
- Experience working in an international school (advantage).
- Previous experience with students whose first language is not English.
- Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
- High level of professionalism and consideration of the well‑being of children.
- Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities.
- Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age, or ethnic background.
- Positive, solution‑focused attitude towards working life.
- Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
