We are building an AI-native team across media, journalism, content and creative production. We need a recruiter who genuinely understands this world — not someone who has only recruited for it from the outside.
You will own hiring across media, journalism, editorial, content creation and production. The people you hire are journalists, editors, producers, writers, video creators, social media specialists, visual storytellers and content strategists who use tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, Runway, ElevenLabs and Perplexity as part of their daily workflows.
You understand what exceptional media and content talent looks like. You can distinguish between someone who can genuinely research, write, produce and tell stories — and someone who simply has the right keywords on their CV.
This is a build role. There is no existing process. You will create it.
What You Will Do
- Own end-to-end recruitment across media, journalism, editorial, content, creative and production functions
- Source and assess candidates for highly specific roles including journalists, editors, writers, narrative producers, video producers, content creators, social media specialists, visual storytellers and production specialists
- Evaluate candidates through portfolios, writing samples, published work, video output, practical assignments and workflow demonstrations — never self-reported skills alone
- Assess genuine AI fluency and understand how candidates use AI to improve research, writing, editing, production and creative output
- Build structured hiring pipelines and recruitment processes from scratch
- Partner directly with founders and senior leadership on every hire
- Define what strong performance looks like for each media and content role and build screening criteria accordingly
- Maintain a live pipeline of high-quality media, journalism, editorial, content and production talent
- Use AI tools yourself daily to source, research, screen and move faster
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of talent acquisition experience, with a clear focus on media, journalism, editorial, content, creative or production roles
- Demonstrated experience hiring journalists, editors, writers, producers, content creators, video professionals or similar media talent
- Experience hiring across at least two of the following areas: journalism, editorial, content production, video production, social media, visual storytelling, creative production
- Strong understanding of how to assess writing, storytelling, editorial judgment, research ability, creative quality and production standards
- Ability to review portfolios, writing samples, published articles, videos, social content and creative work and distinguish genuine ability from surface-level presentation
- Personally uses AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, Runway, ElevenLabs, Perplexity or equivalent as part of their own workflow
- Has built or scaled a recruitment function or hiring process in an early-stage or fast-moving environment
- Minimum two relevant recruiting roles held for 2+ years each
- Dubai-based or able to relocate immediately
- Fluent English required
You Are Not the Right Fit If
- Your recruiting background is primarily HR operations, payroll, administration, logistics, academic recruitment or healthcare
- You have primarily recruited corporate or generalist roles rather than media and content talent
- You have never hired journalists, editors, content creators, writers, producers or video professionals
- You cannot confidently evaluate a writing sample, portfolio, published article, video output or content portfolio
- You do not understand the difference between strong journalism/content work and polished but shallow output
- You use AI tools only occasionally or not at all
- All of your relevant recruiting experience consists of short-term roles of less than one year
