Develops and maintains short-term, medium-term, and life-of-mine plans in coordination with Geology, Mining Operations, Processing, and Technical Services to achieve production and business targets.
What You Will Deliver
Mine Planning and Design
- Develops and maintains short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans with relevant technical and operational functions.
- Produces and reviews mine designs, production schedules, extraction sequences, and development plans to optimize resource utilization, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Coordinates with Geology to incorporate resource models, reserve updates, and grade control information into plans and production forecasts.
Performance and Optimization
- Monitors actual mining performance against approved plans, analyzes variances, identifies constraints and risks, and recommends corrective actions.
- Conducts mine optimization studies and evaluates mining methods, equipment requirements, and operational strategies to maximize resource recovery and minimize operating costs.
- Drives continuous improvement opportunities within mine planning processes, systems, and technologies.
Business Planning and Technical Governance
- Prepares annual operating plans, production forecasts, manpower requirements, budgets, and capital expenditure proposals for mine planning and development.
- Maintains the accuracy, integrity, and availability of mine planning data, survey information, and technical reports.
- Leads technical studies, feasibility assessments, mine expansion plans, and resource utilization reports.
- Reviews and approves planning deliverables, technical reports, designs, and schedules against company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
People and HSE
- Supervises Mine Planning personnel, provides technical guidance and coaching, and deploys department resources effectively.
- Implements HSE requirements in planning activities and participates in risk assessments and incident investigations.

- Short-, medium-, and life-of-mine plans align with approved production and business objectives.
- Mine designs, schedules, forecasts, and technical reports are accurate, available, and compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
- Planning variances, constraints, and risks are identified and addressed through timely corrective recommendations.
- Mine planning activities improve resource recovery, operating efficiency, and cost effectiveness while meeting HSE requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.
Experience
- Eight to ten years of mining experience, including significant experience in mine planning and scheduling.
