Substation Testing Maintenance Engineer
Job Details
Engineers shall perform isolations and restorations required for circuits and equipment according to the switching program and restore all supply after completion.
Engineers shall fill out all required site forms for substation, transformers, switch gear, MV/LV panel operation, monitoring, preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities.
Engineers shall have experience in testing and commissioning associated with HV substations. Work experience in national and distribution control centres for conducting end-to-end testing of new substations. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in maintenance, testing, and protection schemes. Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s / Engineering degree (Electrical/Electronic) or equivalent.
Engineers shall contribute towards achieving electrical effectiveness and quality of services. They shall implement switching operations and maintenance programs for 11kV and 0.415kV substation equipment.
Engineers shall be able to analyze and resolve problems independently and efficiently.
Engineers shall be able to rectify communication issues with SCADA systems.
Engineers shall develop written test procedures to perform operations, monitoring, preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance.
Engineers shall develop relay testing procedures prior to performing relay testing.
Engineers shall lead investigations of electrical-related issues, including root cause analysis as needed.
Engineers shall be able to calibrate and perform functional tests on electromechanical and micro-processor-based protective relays/meters for substations and other systems covered under this contract.
Engineers shall be capable of troubleshooting primary and distribution power networks.
Engineers shall have a minimum of four years of experience with relay test software for testing protection relays.
Engineers shall have experience in installing, maintaining, testing, or repairing circuit breakers, transformers, switch gear, or similar equipment.
Engineers shall be able to read and understand protection and control schematic diagrams and wiring diagrams, identifying mistakes and problems by comparing with available drawings.
Engineers shall possess knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices, with broad experience with regulations, standards, codes, methods, practices, and advanced engineering principles necessary for complex or unique assignments.
Engineers shall prepare and submit switching programs to the company for approval.
One engineer shall have the required permit (LOA) to work in RLFM 2 and PRB 31 from Kahramaa to perform maintenance work on 132/11 KV power transformers, protection relays, and 11 KV switchgears.
