Position: Structural Engineer (EM and CS)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to support the delivery of high‑quality engineering solutions within railway projects. The engineer will assess technically civil structures such as bridges, culverts, and building structures for railway related facilities. The role is responsible for reviewing technical documentation and supervising construction works related to the discipline for new and updated assets of railway facilities.
Responsibilities
- Review technical documentation including design drawings, reports, shop drawings, and as‑built documentation ensuring full compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
- Provide expert guidance and oversight on all structural engineering aspects of transportation projects from conceptualization to completion.
- Collaborate with design and construction teams to review structural drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Conduct thorough site inspections to assess structural integrity, identify potential risks, and propose effective solutions.
- Monitor the progress of structural works on site, ensuring adherence to approved designs, specifications, and quality standards.
- Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve structural‑related issues during construction.
- Review and approve method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals related to structural works.
- Conduct regular structural assessments and provide recommendations for strengthening or modification as necessary.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, documentation, and correspondence related to structural engineering activities.
- Act as a technical liaison between the project team, clients, and relevant authorities to address structural queries promptly.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including designers, project managers, commercial staff, and project controls, to develop project plans and budgets.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary reviews of technical documents to ensure full coordination of deliverables.
- Participate in producing and reviewing value engineering proposals.
- Conduct quality inspections and oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of structural works.
- Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing potential issues and deviations from the baseline.
- Ensure adherence to project and company quality programmes and policies.
- Stay updated on the latest engineering technologies and best practices.
- Promote a culture of safety and perform walkdowns, attend site visits, and meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree in Structural Engineering from a reputable institution; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably combining construction supervision and technical review.
- Experience performing engineering work in accordance with railway systems procedures, standards, and practices and Saudi Arabian regulatory requirements.
- Good knowledge of fire protection aspects and requirements applicable to structural assets.
- Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices in engineering.
- Working knowledge of structural codes and standards applicable to railway systems in KSA, including Saudi Building Code, Civil Defence requirements, and NFPA standards.
- Experience in analyzing project requirements and checking implementation in technical documentation and site works, through inspections and testing processes.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to make decisions in dynamic project environments.
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
- Detail‑oriented with a focus on delivering high‑quality structural outcomes.
